What's our process?

The Zigzag process is simple and is split into two main stages:

The Contract


This comes from you the client, and will either be through our website, finding us on line or from getting one of our brochures. You will send us your initial enquiry, hopefully with contact details and a little bit of information about your project. From that one of the Zigzag team will contact you to discuss you project, with a view to getting enough information to set the foundations for a quote. Ideally at this stage you the client will give us drawings, simple plans and elevations by your architect or designer will be sufficient. If you can then give us as much of a specification as you can relating to the style of the staircase you want, materials, layout etc. that will help us get a more accurate quotation to you.


Zigzag will send out (usually by e mail) an official quotation once enough information has been gathered from the initial contact stage. This quotation will have a detailed verbal description of your proposed design, materials, schedules, cost, delivery, photographs to back up design intent and details, and Zigzags term and conditions.


Once you have had our quotation and you wish to commission Zigzag to produce your staircase or balustrade, simply e mail or call us by return and we will do the rest. You will be required to engage us officially by way of a 10% deposit to hold the commission and enable Zigzag to book the works in with our design studio and workshop. There after payment will staggered throughout the design, build and the installation process, allowing you the client to see progress as you pay.

The Project


The first stage once Zigzag are commissioned, is to carry out a site visit and survey, as well as have an initial design meeting with you the client to set the parameters of what is required / desired. At this stage Zigzag produce complete design concept CAD drawings for design development. Design development meetings will be allowed for, to be had with you the client and/or your architect or design team to ensure our drawings and all design details are progressing in the right direction. Once design concept drawings are agreed and signed of by you the client Zigzag can move into production. At this stage Zigzag will also produce any material and finish samples that may be required for client sign off prior to production.


Zigzags manufacture starts from sign off of all design details and samples. We begin with the production of working or manufacture drawings. These are generally for Zigzag use only, however if required we can issue these to your design and build team for reference and critical information relating to Zigzags products. Zigzag will then order all required materials and start production in our workshops. Clients are welcome to make a visit during production to see your commission being worked on.


Once manufacture is complete Zigzags installation team will install to a pre agreed schedule. Our team ensure all work is carried out to a high standard, and are always very client aware. We follow all expected safety procedures and provide insurance and method statements where required.
